  • Begin participating immediately and continue participating throughout the course.
  • Be on time with class assignments.
  • Invest the same amounts of time with reading and activities that you would in a traditional course.
  • Respond often to the discussion board.
  • Limit writing to no more than one screen-full for response to posted discussion questions, and about one-half a screen for your responses to other students.
  • Stay in touch with the instructor via virtual office hours, e-mails, or weekly discussions.
  • Collaborate and be a team player.
  • Be thoughtful, but casual.
  • Use humor, but do so appropriately.
  • Notify the instructor immediately if you run into any problems.
