When you click
on the underlined name of the course, such as ALA309
The Physical World, you will open to the Home
page for the course. The home page for this class is shown below. |

| Not all courses will have the same links on the Home page. What you see here are typical links to content materials and resources for the course. There are two ways to go directly to a resource or page. The first is to click on the icon and/or underlined link. If you clicked on Report Rubric or the target icon you would go to that resource. Later in this tutorial, the content under each area will be explained. A second way is to use the list of locations in the blue box on the left side of the page. Clicking on any of these items will go directly to that resource. In many cases, the new page will open in a separate browser window. When you are finished with that window and close it, you will be back on the page where you started. |
As you move through different links, you will see some links with arrows appear under the name of the course, similar to those at the left. These are "breadcrumbs" and leave a trail of where you are. You can click on any of them to return to that page directly. If you wish to go to an entirely different area of the course, use the down arrow under - Course Menu - to select your destination as shown in the illustration below:

| There is one additional menu bar with which you should be familiar. It looks like the bar shown below. |
| This menu bar will help you navigate around the entire WebCT package. First is the MYWEBCT button. This will take you to the first page you saw after you logged into the site. It will allow you to move from working on one course to working on another. The RESUME COURSE button will take you to the last page you accessed in the course. The COURSE MAP will show you the course links in outline format. The CHECK BROWSER button will check the version of your current browser and provide a link to the browser tune-up page. LOGOUT will do just what it says. This is helpful if you are working on a computer you share with others. HELP will access some additional help information about WebCT. |
